Review: ‘The Dark Knight’ (…the BEST superhero movie thus far!)
Jul 16th
Some of you know about the work I do, some of you don’t. Lets just say, I somewhat work in the entertainment field. With that said, we get to go to a lot of pre-screenings & events that are job related.
Tonight I had the chance to see ‘Batman: The Dark Knight’ in IMAX! I have not been to an IMAX theater since 6th grade, when we went on a field trip to Liberty Science Center in Jersey (where I am from).
This movie starts of action packed, and ends exactly the same. I am going to do my best not to spoil anything for you. Let’s get to the big question, villains. Yup, you read correct, that did have an “s” on it. Lets just say, you will see a bunch.
But let me talk about the movie and actors themselves. There has been a lot of buzz about Heath Ledger possibly getting an Oscar for this movie. I will not go that far to jump the bandwagon of that. BUT, I will say that he was definitely the PERFECT fit for that role. He brought that character to life in so many ways that I was speechless at some parts of the movie. You can just tell that he embodied everything that the Joker is. From some of my sources, it has been said that he was so into the role, that it was hard to break him out of it after shoots. You can definitely see that in the film. The Joker creates so many twists and turns, it brings a lot more to the movie than you can imagine.
With that said, the rest of the actors & actresses did exactly the same. Forget ‘Spiderman’ or ‘X-Men’, this movie follows the TRUE storyline perfectly. From the way the story goes, right down to how each person looks in the film. At one point, I was shocked. Only because they made certain characters look exactly like they did in the comic books.
Christian Bale & Aaron Eckhart were fabulous! Not only did Bale deliver just like he did in ‘Batman Begin’s’, but Eckhart brought everything to the role of Harvey Dent. I will admit, I was very skeptical about his role. But halfway through the film towards the end, he (just like Ledger) brings “both sides” to life in such ways…. I just can’t explain enough.
Even if you are NOT a big superhero fan, or know the story fully, this is a great movie none the least. Action packed thriller all the way! It is almost as if it is not a superhero movie. It has a great story, scenes, actors, everything you could ever want in such a movie.
This definitely gets 5 out of 5 stars in my book. I was floored afterwards (I can not say that enough!) By the way…. as of Tuesday this week, 90% of online sales at Fandango have been sold for the opening night. So go grab your tickets QUICK!
Stars come out for ‘The Dark Knight’ premiere in NYC
Jul 14th
I can’t wait to see this on Wednesday, and I just love the perks of my job because I get to host the screening/premiere of the movie in IMAX, here in my area. This movie is going to be great! Finally done the way that it should have been made the first time around. Don’t get me wrong, out of the first round of Batman movies, the first one was the best. But it still was way to comical in my opinion. This is the true way the comic should be portrayed.
Anyway, peep the pics from the NYC premiere:
